Zach “Lil Mac” Pannell’s BKFC Prospect Series debut didn’t exactly go as planned.

Pannell fell to the canvas less than three seconds into the opening round of his battle with hometown favorite Kasey Yates on Saturday at the sold-out Revel Arena in Albuquerque, NM.

“I got hit and I fell down, but I got right back up. I was just thinking, I’m here, I’m in a fistfight, so let’s go,” the 29-year-old Lancaster, PA lightweight says.

Pannell quickly responded with a knockdown of his own against Yates. Yates picked himself up off the canvas as well, so Pannell laid on the pressure before stopping Yates with 16 seconds left in the first round.

“My hands are a little swollen,” the business-like Pannell says. “Otherwise I’m good.” 

Pannell is pleased to have his hand raised and get a bit of experience under his belt at the BKFC Prospect Series level. But if he has his way, this will be his first of many, many trips to the Squared Circle.

“My goal is to be known as someone who will fight anyone at any time,” he says. “And, when it’s all said and done, I want to have more fights than anyone
