Harold McQueen pulled off the upset at #BYB17 in Rock Hill, knocking out highly ranked Argentinian Pablo Caballero in round two after having to climb off the canvas in the opening round himself.

McQueen couldn’t be happier about a spectacular knockout in his bare knuckle debut: “I feel amazing. The energy was great, I was just happy to put on a show. When I get knocked down, I get back up. I am training to fight to the death. I am not worried about a knockdown. I just wanted to put him out of his misery.”

This is how he describes the moment he caught his opponent with the uppercut: “I knew I was going to knock him out. He doesn’t have the boxing experience that I got. I’m a trained boxer. I’ve been sparring with world champs for years, so I knew he can’t stand up with me. He said he was the number one ranked person in the world for bare knuckles. So I guess that’s me now.”

McQueen was able to adapt to the bare knuckle game very quickly: ” I’m a quick thinker. I’m gonna adapt to any situation in life, period. I had a tough upbringing, so I always had to adapt, had to be quick on my toes. So I apply that to everything I do.”

Prior to this fight, Harold McQueen had not competed for several years but the inactivity was not a concern for him: “I’ve been inactive as in I haven’t had an actual fight since 2017, my last amateur fight, but I’ve been in all types of pro training camps. I just I ain’t had a fight, but I get a lot of sparring.”

This is the biggest difference between bare knuckle fighting and boxing for him: “I would say the holding. They let you grab people by the head and crazy sh** I wasn’t expecting. I think it’s a lot more head clashing but it’s fun, it’s like a street fight you know, I’m used to street fighting. I’ve been in street fights my whole life, so it ain’t too much different.”

Moving around in the Trigon does not pose a huge challenge for him: “I am trained to fight on the inside, in the trenches or in the big ring where I can move around. So I could do both. I don’t mind standing there and banging it out. So I like it. There ain’t too much room to run. I can maneuver around there, but definitely there ain’t no running.”

This is what McQueen describes as his biggest asset: “My speed. They don’t call me “Lightning” for no reason. I got good speed and I hit hard as f***. They found that out. They thought Pablo was going to knock me out. But we saw what happened. And I’m unpredictable, I’m unorthodox. I’m a trickster, but I’ll use my speed to my advantage.”

He wants to be back in the Mighty Trigon soon: “I’m ready to fight whoever. Whoever the champion is in the featherweight division, that’s who I want. I heard they said they were planning on giving Pablo a title fight next. So I want that. That’s what I want!”
