In his BKFC debut fight, Nick Gonzalez knocks down Lardy Navarro in the first round, and after Navarro recovers, Gonzalez opens up on him with several punches. The fight stops at :41 and Gonzalez is declared the winner.

Gonzalez describes his win, “The short, left hook is the one that knocked him down the first time. And then I went straight, right and left, I think. And that finished it off, you know. It’s an amazing dream come true. I can’t believe it. I love it. I love it, you know? I can’t ask for a better place to perform.”

However, Nick Gonzalez is retiring as a fighter but staying in the sport. He explains, “I’m hanging it up after this. I’ve been fighting and competing since 2005. It’s just time. You know, I’m 43 now, and I can’t. I can’t ask for a better way to hang it up and retire and go ahead and focus on my team and continue to build my team, continue to build a lot of great fighters, and I have a lot of strong up-and-comers.”

As for the fans, he says, “I love the New Mexico crowd. Always. It felt absolutely amazing. I knew I was a natural for it. I’ve been street fighting my whole life. I’ve been fighting my whole life.”

In closing, Gonzalez reveals, “And I knew this was just something I wanted to do. It was in my soul. I had a burning desire for it. I love it. I love this. I am at peace. I finished my food. I finished my plate. I finally I stuck to something through all the ups and downs, all the injuries, the wins and losses. It didn’t matter. I never quit. I never gave up. And I did it!”
