Sawyer Depee on the Annihilating of His Opponent at BKFC 44

Depee knocked out Gabriel Mota less than a minute into their fight at BKFC 44.

In addressing the 47-second win and his recollections of the contest, Depee said, “That was super fast. I just want to be back. Let’s get me in there as fast as we can. I’m ready to go again. Hands are good. I didn’t get cut. I didn’t even get hit I don’t think, so. Let’s get there again.”

“Thank you to everybody that came out tonight. Look at all these ******* people. Thank you for my family. My daughter’s over here somewhere. This is a good night. Ready to have some more fun.”

There was a lot of hometown love for this one. While Depee said fighting in Florida is a lot of fun, there definitely was something to the partisan support here. ‘Diesel’ said fighting is part of who Montana natives are. He joked about always being bored and how throwing down in farm fields could subvert that feeling during his upbringing.

When asked about the specifics of this stoppage at BKFC Great Falls as far as if he saw any openings he could exploit, Depee stated, “Oh, I caught him with that check hook. I don’t know. I just kept working. I kept hitting there. So I’m not going to fix something that’s (not) broken. I’m just going to keep doing it.”

Durability is a self-professed key attribute for Depee which has served him well through prior big fights at #KnuckleMania2, against former champions and title contenders, etc. He was a little nervous being back after a year away from action though.

He rebounded from a second-round stoppage loss to number-one ranked BKFC cruiserweight Quentin Henry and notched a win as a BKFC cruiserweight. That being said, Depee is looking for a fight at 185 next but has no particulars as far as the opponent he’s eyeing.
