Meister had six prior amateur MMA bouts to his credit before this fight, his BKFC debut. He credited his opponent, McKenna, for taking the fight on two weeks’ notice and embarking on a massive cut down from 310 pounds.

McKenna had 40 pounds on Meister, and when asked if he felt the weight difference in the contest, Meister answered,

“Not particularly. Definitely, with a few of the body shots, there was a lot more cushion behind it than when I’m sparring with a lot of guys at the gym. I’m currently the largest guy at my gym. So it’s always an interesting experience fighting someone who has a larger frame than myself.”

Meister continued, “He definitely had some power behind his strikes. He had his whole body weight behind him and props to him man. That’s utilizing the tools you have available for your success.”

After the initial onslaught, Meister saw openings and took advantage of them. But, in breaking down those moments to Bare Knuckle News, Meister said, “Yes, I wish I would have been a little bit more aggressive a little bit longer. Overall, I’m satisfied with my performance, but I could be better. I can always be better.”

This emphatic victory also took place in his hometown. Meister havings a fervent passion for how the Great Falls crowd received him, as well as the fighting spirit of Montana natives.

Despite this statement-sending debut with BKFC, Meister described MMA as “still his main game,” and will focus on making his pro mixed martial arts debut sooner than later.

Meister is coached and managed by former BKFC title challenger Joe Riggs, though. So a return to BKFC seems in the cards as the multi-combat sport athlete continues carving out his name.
